Men's trip to Stratford-upon-Avon

For twenty-five years Restore has been successfully supporting men through its Men’s Activities, which provide social interaction and recreation. Activities are organised every 2 weeks and have included: The Birmingham History Galleries and other museums giving insights into the West Midlands industrial past; walks in the Lickey Hills and Sutton Park providing an oasis of tranquillity; classical music concerts at Birmingham Conservatoire and the Barber Institute of Fine Arts; swimming and bowling.

The majority of participants are asylum seekers who are not linked into any education or training, and refugees who, for health reasons, are currently unable to work.

Hardly a day passes without getting bad news, then a call comes up about a Restore men’s event. This is good news to a lonely man. We have been to so many places of interest around Birmingham, played football and gone swimming. This has helped by keeping us busy, reducing stress and helped uplift self-esteem. Visiting and meeting different people makes me feel relaxed and confident about the future.” (participant)
