Our Next Training Course

All volunteers are required to attend one of our training days which are held three times per year before befriending. This is an opportunity to learn about refugees globally, the UK asylum process and the practicalities of befriending. The training day is interactive and includes refugee and volunteer voices. Everyone is welcome to come along.

If you just want come along and discover more about refugees, that is fine. That is part of our Motivating for Action work - and there is no obligation to volunteer with Restore at the end of the training day. However, if you decide that befriending is for you - and it is an incredibly rewarding way to volunteer - then you opt into the recruitment process and we’ll get you started as soon as we can.

Our next training day will take place on Saturday 10th October 2026 at St John’s Church, Harborne. The course will begin at 9.45am for refreshments and registration, with the first session commencing at promptly at 10am, and the last session ending at 4pm.

‘The Restore training day was brilliant! Jasmine and the team were thorough and engaging and I’ve come away feeling more informed and fully supported as I go into a befriending role’.
