Our Next Training Course

Our next training day will happen on 6th February 2027!

All volunteers are required to attend one of our training days which are held three times per year before befriending. This is an opportunity to learn about refugees globally, the UK asylum process and the practicalities of befriending. The training day is interactive and includes refugee and volunteer voices. Everyone is welcome to come along.

If you just want come along and discover more about refugees, that is fine. That is part of our Motivating for Action work - and there is no obligation to volunteer with Restore at the end of the training day. However, if you decide that befriending is for you - and it is an incredibly rewarding way to volunteer - then you opt into the recruitment process and we’ll get you started as soon as we can.

  • Global refugee issues, overview of situation in the UK, introduction to Restore and befriending including input from a volunteer befriender.

  • An overview of the asylum application process and introduction to refugee resettlement, including a refugee sharing about their experience of the asylum process.

  • Practicalities of befriending: guidelines, boundaries, safeguarding, support, contact with and feedback to Restore and how to apply.
